Scoala Gimnaziala Capatinesti "inv. Clementa Beschea"

Our school is located two kilometers off the city of Buzau, in the south-west of Romania. We have 750 children being enrolled from the preschool to the eighth grade, which means that they are from the age of three to that of fifteen. Our staff comprises fifty teachers. The area is not very well developed economically, in spite of being so close to the city, and so there are families where one or both parents do not have a stable job. Moreover, some children are left to be raised by their relatives, usually grandparents, as their parents work abroad. Generally speaking, the social level is a modest one and we are confronted with early school leaving, within normal limits. Also, because of the parents’ social status, we have a less than medium level of violence and absenteeism.

Having said these, our school gives well trained students for high schools, the results in national contests and the rate of admission in the superior classes being strong evidence. Furthermore, we get involved in national and international projects, such as : ”Scoli RRResponsabile”, where we were the winners, ”Made for Europe”, ”Europa casa mea”  and others- for the national level and KA2”No Child Left Behind” and other eTwinning partnerships at the European level. The point is that our teachers and students are willing to do various activities to enhance their cultural horizon and make our school a better place.
